Not so random update

Posted by Mottis - May 16th, 2009

Well, I finally finished Bunnykill4.

That's right. It's finally done. I've spent the last few days trying to find things to improve/fix, but I can safely say that it is finished now.
However, Matti is still doing his magic and working on the soundtrack as I type this. (at least I hope he is *crack whip*)

So, there I was, staring at my computer screen, trying to find random stuff to add/fix on Bk4. After failing that, I decided to already start working on Bk5. That's right. Nothing major yet though, I re-drew all the characters, drew some new weaponry, new special effects and whatnot. backgrounds 'n stuff. Anything I can to prepare and make the animating easier and faster so I don't take another 2 years to release it ^^'.

I don't want to reveal too much of Bk5 as of yet yet, but I can say that it will go back to modern style. No need to worry however; even though there will be a lot of guns present, a big part of Bk5 will be melee based. For example, Snowball will have his katana with him through the entire movie.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, I realised that I have been an idiot, since only yesterday I found out that you can compress movies with Flash MX while exporting. *bangs head against a wall* 15 Megabytes shrank to 9. Nice. d^_^

Yay the guns will be back :D I love guns! Anyways. Gratz on finishing BK4. And it is not a problem with the time. We can wait. I don't care if you take more than two years with BK5. As long as you make it x] And good for you about the compress thing ^^

Now i just sit back, relax, and watch the movie unfold.

Hurray!
My only guess of a release date is somewhere in the May 20s.

Yet that is still 9mb without the music. It probably still would not fit in the 10mb limit.
Also before deciding whether to upload it compressed or not you should try both versions on a slower PC.

It's actually closer to 10 Mb with about half of the total music already in, so the filesize will go over 10 megabytes for sure. I'm guessing something like 12-14, depending on what kind of bitrate I'll choose for the music.

And I honestly have no idea how the compressing option works, are you saying that it might slow down the movie?

Yay! I can hardly wait now! *waits at comp for release of BK4*

Well, yeah. The point of compression is to reduce size at the cost of performance. It takes extra processing time to decompress. Hopefully it decompresses before playing and not during, because Flash uses only the processor for it's needs.

Yeah you'd think that it just takes longer to load instead of actually making the movie run slower. I'm gonna run some tests once it is ready for upload.

is the music done yet?

Not quite yet. ;)

Nice! BK4 coming XD
btw can you give an approx release date?

a Week maybe? I'm not sure. It's down to Matti now.

Errm
Let's not bother Rajunen about hurrying up and making his music, K?

This news post makes me happy

I find that pretty efficient that you're already working on the backgrounds and stuff for BK 5, while Matti is working on the soundtrack.
If you can, try to get Matti to let you listen to it and see how the soundtrack sounds so you won't be surprised if it doesn't sound good for you at the last second.

yeah, I'm itching to start working on Bk5. I've come up with a few pretty neat effects for it already. I can't wait to put them to good use.

And, yeah, he lets me hear the music while he is working on it to get some input from me. Atm it seems like he's been struck with an artist's block, but I'm not going to rush him. He has all the time he needs.

Question: Will Snowball have any allies throughout the fourth Bunnykill?

Hmm.
Even though there's hardly any story involved this time around, I'm not too keen on giving out spoilers like that.

However, since you caught me on a good mood, I'm gonna give you a straight answer:

Yes ;)

Ack! I shouldn't have asked that question! I was trying to delete it seconds after I posted it.
Oh well. Allies, yay!
I hope I didn't piss off all the other people who didn't want spoilers.

Haha don't worry about it. ;)

UM IS THE MUSIC DONE ITS THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME AWAY FROM BK4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me, when it's done, you'll know it.

I'll wait by watching other Bunnykill movies and maybe the Madness movies themselves.

Holy crap, YES!

I was patient enough to watch through the credits of Bunnykill 3 Vol. 2 just now, and I saw that you used Flash 5 to make this movie.

Flash 5. Holy crap.

If I ask, you'll probably say you have no intention of moving to Flash CS4. It sucks, I know. Flash 8 is the only good latest Flash... ever. Find a way to torrent it.

Well, to be honest, at the moment I have flash 5, Flash MX and Flash 8.

I made the jump to Flash MX a looong while ago, and I'm glad I did.
However, I recently tried to switch to Flash 8(because of actionscript problems. No one uses AS1 anymore D;) but the program is soooo slooowwwww. Just starting up Flash 8 takes several minutes, while flash MX boots up nearly instantly. Saving Bunnykill4 also takes about one minute on Flash8. Then there's the overall slowness; sometimes clicking stuff takes a few seconds to load, no matter what i click. It's only few seconds yeah, but once this glitch(or whatever) happens it literally loads every single time I select, deselect, move or edit an object. It drives me crazy. The only way to fix it is to reboot the program.

So I went back to Flash MX. It's perfect for me. ;)

If he can make Bunnykill 3, one of the best Flash movies I've ever seen, with Flash 5, he can do anything.

The effects of Bunnykill 5 you were talking about? You might be mentioning the filters of Flash 8, but if you're having problems loading it, then you probably made some custom badass effects there.

You probably know that Flash 8 is like MX except with filters. I use almost every single filter with ease, but I only use the blur filter for extremely fast movement. Let me tell you, the blur filter will make movies lag like hell unless you have a computer that's 1337. The Bunnykill series is awesome without filters, though.

Oh, and I suck at Flash xD

Well, the effects I was talking about were just random stuff like smoke effects, gunfire, bullet trails, blood squirts/splatters and bullet holes. Random stuff like that. I really don't know anything about these 'filters' excluding the blur filter, which I've seen several times, altough I've never used it (since I don't use flash 8)

Sounds like Bunnykill 5 will be unlike other Bunnykills.
But first, I'll see BK4 :3
